Tales of the Jedi Episode 3 Review, Choices

Today I'm going to give you my review of episode 3 of Tales of the Jedi. Please be advised spoilers ahead.

Mace Windu and Dooku arrive on Rexus Secundus to retrieve the body of Master Katri after she was killed in an ambush while Senator Lariks survived the attack. However, Dooku's instincts tell him there is something more going on.

Both Dooku and Mace arrive at the capital city were they meet with Senator Larik after some discussion with him, the Jedi asked to see the place were Master Katri was ambushed. As both Master Katri and the senator were to meet an informer there. One of the soldiers said that they will take them to the site. Mace says to Dooku that the senator is hiding something.

When they arrive at the site the Jedi observe the area, Dooku asks the senator how many attacked them. He said it happened fast and couldn't give an exact number. Katri exited the ship first and before she could clear the area they descended upon her.

Dooku looks at the ship and asks the Senator that if Master Katri was fired upon here, why are there no blast marks on the ship. Mace added that by judging from his description someone fired from the direction of the ship. Dooku says for a Jedi to succumb to a surprise attack is rare, unless that attack is from someone she trusts.

Dooku Activates his lightsaber, Mace tells Dooku to stand down. The senator runs towards the Jedi saying to the Jedi that the guards killed her, at that point one of the guards shoots the senator dead, and turn their weapons on the Jedi, who deflect the blaster bolts with their lightsabers. Then a number of droids appear and start attacking the Jedi as well. Dooku and Mace were successful and defeating the droids and the guards.

Dooku asks one of the guards their reason for killing Master Katri. He said they are part of a group who learned Larik was using his senators seat to become rich at the expense of their people and planet. He was willing to bleed Raxus dry luring off world companies to come and industrialise the land. He was selling the planet piece by piece.

Dooku asks why they let the senator live. The guard said that they were going to force him to put forth their own agenda at the next senate hearing meeting. Mace said that Katri was a keeper of the peace. The guard said that the Jedi are lap dogs of the senate, their bidding always comes first, its evident throughout the galaxy, Jedi claim peace but mostly keep law and order for the rich and powerful.

At this point you can see Dooku thinking about what he was saying, slowly the wheels were turning for him to slowly leave the Jedi order and join Darth Sidious. Dooku visits the guard in prison and says to him that their Ideology, while faulty does have its points. The guard is surprised to hear this from a Jedi.

They arrive back at the Jedi Temple with the body of Master Katri. Dooku asks Mace when they arrive if he thinks the Jedi will truly keep the peace if they continue to take everything the senate says as law. Mace replies that they are guided by the council and not by politics nor ego.

After the burial of Master Katri Dooku calls Mace & reveals that Mace will be presented with Master Katris council seat. Mace said he will. Dooku asks if it was something he knew was happening before they left for Raxus. Mace said that they were both together when the mission was assigned. Mace said that he stuck to the mission. While Dooku decided to interfere in a way that lead to the senators death. Mace said he will speak to the council on his behalf.

We can see that Dooku is not happy at what has transpired and is starting to have his doubts about the Jedi Council. We see this explored in further detail in the audio drama Dooku Jedi Lost which I recommend. We will see his further fall in the next episode.

Raxus Secundus, also known simply as Raxus, was a lush world in the Outer Rim Territories' Tion Hegemony that served as the capital planet of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Renowned for its beauty, Raxus had a temperate climate and was covered with oceans and landmasses. Since the Separatist Senate was headquartered within its capital city of Raxulon, Raxus became home to a number of Confederate senators, including Mina Bonteri of Onderon. Other major Raxian cities included Tamwith Bay, which was located a considerable distance from Raxulon.

Raxus was a contested world throughout the Clone Wars, and its strategic importance led the Confederacy navy to blockade it to oversee security for incoming travelers. Nevertheless, Republic Senator Padmé Amidala and Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano, seeking to meet with Bonteri, were able to smuggle themselves onto Raxus aboard a transport from Mandalore. Count Dooku, the leader of the Confederacy, visited Raxus for various events, and it was during one such award ceremony that Jedi Master Quinlan Vos and bounty hunter Asajj Ventress launched a failed attempt to assassinate him.

After the war, Raxus found itself in the crosshairs of the Republic's successor, the Galactic Empire, which committed the Antar Atrocity to pressure Raxus and other worlds into surrendering all former Separatists to Imperial custody. Raxus Senator Avi Singh, who refused to voice support of the Imperial occupation, was arrested and later extracted by the Bad Batch.
