Tales of the Jedi Episode 2 Justice

This is my review of episode 2 of Tales of the Jedi. Please be advised spoilers ahead.

In this episode we see Dooku and Gui-Gon Jinn who is Dooku's apprentice at this stage, arrive at a village were tensions are high over the kidnapping of Senator Dagonet's son. The Village is poor, dirty and run down.

Both Dooku & Qui-Gon enter a Tavern were Dooku demands to know were the senators son is. One of the female villagers asks why they should tell him and he reveals himself to be Jedi and that they are there to resolve the situation for everyone. She asks Dooku do they know who Senator Dagonet is. Qui-Gon says that he is the longest standing senator of the republic. She says that as they entered the village they can see the effects of his long standing policies. She takes them both to the Senators son.

They arrive at the barn were they have held him and he reveals that he is well and is being treated well for a prisoner. He shows his sympathy for the villagers as he didn't realize how they have lived and that his father had done nothing to help them.

As they speak the senator arrives with soldiers and threatens the villagers. Dooku and Qui-Gon confront the senator and try to ease the situation but doesn't work. The Senator tells the Jedi that they serve the senate, but Dooku says they serve the people of the republic. The senator orders his troops to open fire and the villagers return fire with the help of the Jedi deflecting the bolts from the troops blasters.

The senator after a short while orders the troops to hold their fire. Dooku looks around and sees those injured. The senator tells the Jedi that he would destroy the town and make an example of them and not even the Jedi could stop him. At this point we see Dooku slowly succumb to the dark side as he force chokes the senator, as Qui-Gon tries to warn Dooku, Dooku force pushes him away. After Qui-Gon recovers he goes into the barn and releases the son to go and save his father.

Dooku confronts the senator as he is force choking him and tells him that corruption like his must be eradicated. The senators son tells Dooku to stop along with Qui-Gon. Dooku releases his hold on the senator.

The son confronts the father about what has been done to the villagers. The next day the son tells the villagers he will not allow their suffering to continue. We see the soldiers helping the villagers with repairs and giving medical aid. Dooku wonders will any meaningful change will come of it.

In this episode we see Dooku seeing what the republic is really like towards the poor, and how little help they have been receiving and how the senators seem to be only in it for power and for themselves rather than helping those who really need it. We see him slowly succumbing to the dark side as we see the anger rising within. We see this happen further in the next couple of episodes.
